My primary inspirations for this game would be Kirby Super Star & a bit of Smash Bros (Combat Mechanic), and Cave Story (Level/World Design + Weapons). The player would also learn of the story, history, and key characters of the astral plane as well as getting to know them through gameplay. The goal of the game is to explore and discover new things whilst defending yourself from the inhabitants, all to eventually become a resident and contributor. Platforming would have a secondary role, and Shooter and Puzzle aspects would have a small tertiary role in the game (would appear in weapons, certain stage obstacles, and even some boss battles). In the end though, I was able to complete everything, and I am satisfied with how it all turned out!Īstral Aurora at its core would be an Action-Adventure game where you play as an innocent yet mysterious being, Onei, who decides to explore the Astral Plane after being born in the Physical Plane (or physical outer space). It started to feel more like a painful grind then a fun time, but I did just come from making 22 tracks so go figure. I had a MASSIVE artblock after completing the first few tracks, it was so big that I felt like giving up various times, something that i'd never thought about. Aside from the entire soundtrack, part 4 would go on to be the hardest musical project i've ever taken on. Finally, in late 2021, right after I released part 3, I began to work on the 4th and final part to Astral Aurora's soundtrack. I was worried, and tried to divert my attention to other things in order for my musical ideas to come back, and they eventually did.

Part 3 was also where I ran into my first artblock in the soundtrack. At that point, I had several places where I wrote down notes: A Blueprint for things that I'm sure of, and a sort of notepad area where I put my ideas and other thoughts. This is where I dedicated a LOT more time into the story and lore, especially with creating and developing characters.

Mid 2021, I started to work on both the third and a little bit of the fourth parts to Astral Aurora. I paid more attention to the quality of the music and story from there on, and I noted any game ideas I had down. Later in mid-late 2020, I decided to continue astral aurora by making a second part, and that's where everything truly began to fall in place. When I started this project in 2019, I thought about making an entire soundtrack, but I settled on only making 8 tracks just to get the general idea across. If I could've worked on this without having to dedicate time to my job, i'm confident that I could've finished it MUCH sooner, but it wouldn't have turned out the same.

Even though this whole game is still a concept, it took me over 2 years to make the full soundtrack, including the time in between the individual parts. Man, I have to say, it's been quite the adventure.
